The TeamCyclist ProfilesClive RichardsonTeam Co-ordinatorC.V.Aged 47 from Sawbridgeworth, Herts. Started racing in 1980 for Harlow CC and was the perennial 3rd Cat until he was inspired by their briefly running a Racing Team in the 90's, riding alongside the likes of Matt Illingworth and James Taylor. A win in the Harlow Autumn Road Race followed, along with several other top-3 placings in Essex Road Race League events, culminating in a 1st Cat. licence. Personal BiogPartnered for the last 5 years by Annie (Team Logistics Manager and Cipo and Lance fan!) plus four nutcase cats. The Team was all Annie's idea, blame her! I've worked in TV Sound for 30 years - boom in shot on EastEnders, blame me! My loves are cycling, Alfa Romeo, good food and good music of many persuasions, in no particular order. The iPod plays a lot, in the Alfa, and at home, through some very nice ATC monitors (thankfully for my neighbours, in a detached house) - anything from Led Zeppelin to XTC to James Taylor (the singing one) to Frank Zappa. Annie supplies the good food of many persuasions, on many occasions (I like the way that scans). My cycling heroes are Andrea Tafi, one of the nice guys in cycling, an impressive Palmares and a rouleur with the heart like a racehorse - and Vin Denson, super-domestique to such top stars as Jacques Anquetil, who called him Mr. Glucose, because that's all he had in his bidon (you know what I'm talking about). Vin was a rouleur with a heart like a racehorse too and could have been a great champion in his own right. I don't ride for the Team (I'm just the Team Coordinator), I ride for my local club Bishops Stortford CC and after a catalogue of disasters over the last 7 years - broken hip, broken vertebra, broken shoulder - I'm hoping for a year free of getting hit by cars so that I can concentrate on getting a 2nd Cat licence this season. Maybe more the year after? I have reason to believe the body is still willing, whether it will be winning though, is another matter. I'm proud and privileged to be associated with Sport Beans - Wilier, a fine bunch of talented, hard-working lads who are enthusiastic about the coming season and are enthusing me. Hopefully we'll all be capable of great things together and long may it continue!
