The TeamCyclist ProfilesDave CoulsonRider
C.V.Aged 36 from Sheffield - literally a hotbed of British cycling talent. A former British Champion, Dave has a wealth of international experience, and has raced in Italy over the last 10 years. Dave's climbing prowess is legendary! Personal BiogMarried to Alison in 2006, in Tuscany. She's very understanding and supportive of my Cycling. We have a big German Short-Haired Pointer called Bailey. He has many fans in the Peloton. Taking him for walks explains my Popeye arms! I'm very into music and I have a broad and eclectic taste. Recent gigs I went to are Jack Penate and Interpol. My 1st gig was The Specials (coolest Ska band ever!) - I told my mum I was going to the swimming baths! I couldn't name a favourite band or artist, there are too many! I'm a big film buff, I recently watched Bon Bon El Pero for the 15th time! I'm the World's biggest Sopranos fan, I watched it from day uno. Best TV ever, FACT! I'm a big Steve McQueen fan on-screen (although it turns out he wasn't such a hero in real life sadly). Cycling heroes, Chris Walker - I had the privilege of training with him for quite a few years, he was an absolute World Class Rider. Adrian Timmis too, he beat Indurain in the 1987 Tour de France Mountain Time Trial and on General Classification! I've always loved riding bikes, my 1st race on my BMX in 1980! My dad rode on the road and I started using his bike when I was 15. I have a bit of a thing for Italy (just ask the wife), I love racing there and I've spent a lot of time there throughout my career. I'm thrilled to be in Sport Beans - Wilier as I feel I needed something new to revitalise me and keep me motivated and this team looks perfect. Experienced Manager, great staff and sponsor support and a great mix of riders. My morale is better than it's been in years. My goals for 2008, primarily to to perform to the best of my ability for the team and sponsors, either supporting team-mates or trying to win myself. Also to pass on my experience when I feel I can help, we have 3 youngsters who all have immense potential. Personal goals would include good results at the hilly Premiers, National Champs, and tough stage races UK and Europe.
