The TeamCyclist ProfilesEd GriffinRiderC.V.A classy young recruit, Ed Griffin is only 18 years old but already has a stack of results that belie his age. From a very sporty family in Trowbridge, Wilts (Ed’s dad also races as a 2nd Cat and used to be a rower for the GB squad), Ed has been riding and racing since he was very young. After a great final year as a Junior in 2007 with many top 10 results in the National Junior Series, Ed has jumped straight into the senior ranks as a 1st Cat, not that this has been a problem as results have flooded in already with placings in E/1/2/3 races at every position – except 1st, although the win is surely just around the corner! Personal BiogI’m only 18 (I know, I look older!) and live at home with my parents. I work full time for Southern Electric as an apprentice electrician meaning that I have to juggle my training around work but I still get plenty of time to put the hours in, although this doesn’t leave a great deal of time for much else. I do still like doing the normal things though such as going out with friends and mountain biking. I started off riding and racing with the local club when I was about 10 then progressed through to the junior ranks racing every week. Last year was probably one of my best years with lots of top results in the National Junior RR Series inc 10th in the National Championships, I also rode the Junior Paris - Roubaix which was an amazing experience as it is held on the same day and course as the senior race! Although I am still young and have gone senior as a 1st Cat I am really pleased with how I am going at the moment and have had plenty of decent results, all I need now is the big win although I am happy to ride for the Team and learn from the more experienced riders such as Ben and Grant. I’m sure that by riding with Sport Beans -Wilier my chance to win will come sooner rather than later!
